You are not alone. Here in Manitoba it is estimated that between 4 and 10% of older adults have experienced one or more forms of abuse or neglect. That translates to 6,000 to 15,000 seniors.

It can happen to anyone. Older adults of all ages, cultures, economic backgrounds and physical or mental status have experienced abuse and neglect.

Elder abuse should never be ignored. Only 1 out of 5 situations of elder abuse come to the attention of a service provider or authority, therefore, it is extremely important for community and family members to recognize the possible signs of abuse.
